GOLD DISCOVERY DAY: Saturday, January 23rd & 24th, 10 AM - 4 PM
January 24th marks the anniversary of James Marshall’s momentous discovery of gold in the tailrace of Sutter’s Mill. The park commemorates the historic event every year with living history, demonstrations and programs featuring the activities of that day and the building of Sutter’s Saw Mill.
HANDS ON HISTORY Every Second Saturday of each month, from 10-2pm in Coloma
Marshall Gold Discovery SHP has docents interpreting Gold Rush History, demonstrating rope making, carpentry, and blacksmithing.
Weekly Farmer's Market Every Sunday, June 6th through Mid-October CANCELED FOR THE REST OF THE YEARCome shop for local fruit, vegetables, and all other goodies every Sunday this summer from 9:00 am to 12:30. Free parking during the market.
James Marshall Birthday Friday, October 8
Celebrate the 200th birthday of James Marshall with the rededication of Marshall’s Monument. The Native Sons of the Golden West will present a ceremony and start the fundraising effort for the restoration of the first historic monument in California.
Coloma Gold Rush Live Saturday & Sunday, October 9th,and 10th, 10 AM - 4 PM
Coloma will appear much as it did in the Gold Rush. A living history tent encampment with groups of miners coming from all over California to interpret gold rush history. Visitors enjoy gold rush music, historic trade demonstrations, pioneer children’s activities, wagon rides, and a merchants market featuring food and period crafts. Gold panning is held for all ages. There will be Sawmill building demonstrations and re-enactments.
The Park’s Historic buildings are open for touring
Christmas in Coloma Saturday & Sunday, December 11th & 12th, 10 AM - 4 PMThis day features an old-fashioned, 1850’s Christmas, with period crafts, music, strolling musicians, historic trade demonstrations, 19th century Christmas programs and plays, and wreath making. A visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus are a colorful part of the day. Vendors offer hand-made crafts as well as a variety of foods. The historic buildings will be opened for visitor's enjoyment.
